Construction site volunteer opportunities

construction Site volunteer opportunities overview

Habitat for Humanity Lakeside welcomes the opportunity to work with individuals and groups of all skills and abilities. As such, we have a variety of opportunities for those looking to volunteer with us and no experience is necessary. Some of our opportunities do have age restrictions. Details on all of our opportunities are outlined below.

If you have any questions about volunteer opportunities or would like to sign-up as a new volunteer, please reach out to our Volunteer & Community Engagement Manager, Lee Anne Raleigh, at lraleigh@habitatlakeside.com or 920-458-3399 ext. 301 or fill out the inquiry form at the bottom of this page.

We have started using a new volunteer management system called CERVIS. If you've volunteered with Habitat for Humanity Lakeside before, please take a look at our volunteer opportunities below and register for an event. If you are a new volunteer or have questions about using CERVIS, please reach out to Lee Anne Raleigh with the contact information above.

More details on construction site volunteer opportunities

Habitat for Humanity Lakeside builds year-round, and volunteers are welcome to help with new construction or repair projects, either as an individual or in a group. The construction day runs from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on most Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The day starts with a safety meeting, overview of the project/family, instructions on the task for the day and a prayer. Habitat provides all of the tools and materials you will need for the task that day. We also provide water. Lunch is on your own unless otherwise specified for the day. No construction experience is necessary for any role. We are willing to teach and work with all levels and abilities of volunteers and look forward to working with you!

*Age Restriction: due to the environment our build sites, no one under the age of 14 is allowed during active construction. If you are between 14-17 years of age, there are task restrictions and adult to youth ratio restrictions. Please inquire to learn more.

**A note on COVID-19: our construction sites have reopened to volunteers with some restrictions. Masks are required at all times. Volunteers go through a COVID-19 orientation prior to the start of their work day. No more than four volunteers are allowed at one time. All volunteers must pre-register and no walk-ups allowed.

Individual/Group Build days

Habitat for Humanity Lakeside builds year-round, and individual volunteers or groups are welcome to help with new construction or repair projects. Our build days are typically on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Lot Maintenance

Do you enjoy yard work or shoveling? We are looking for individuals, youth groups or families to adopt one of our vacant lots. When you adopt a lot, we ask you to help maintain the lot by checking in once per month to pick up any garbage or debris and to help with shoveling the sidewalk when it snows in the winter months and raking the lawn once in the spring and once in the fall. You can choose to adopt a lot for a full year or a specific season. You can also choose to be put on a contact list to help out when needed. We'll simply call or email you when we're running short on volunteers and need work done.

Crew Leader

A Crew Leader is willing to arrive early (8:00 a.m.) to learn the task for the day from our Construction Manager and then lead/teach a small group of other volunteers during the day. We are willing to teach you new skills if you are willing to lead/teach others. This position requires orientation and training.
*We are in particular need of crew leaders who are willing to volunteer on a repeat basis.

photographer

We are seeking individuals who have experience and access to a camera to come out to take photos on our build sites. We want to capture group photos, individuals in action and the progress on our homes and repairs. Volunteers can come out during active construction hours once, twice or three times per week. Habitat will provide a zip drive for you to upload/return the photos on.

Site Support

Site support volunteers assist the Construction Manager with volunteer check-in, run errands to pick up supplies and keep the build site clean during active construction hours.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please fill out the form below or contact our volunteer & community engagement Manager, lee Anne Raleigh, at lraleigh@habitatlakeside.com
