Our Core Programs
Home Buyers ProgramOur homebuyer program helps low-income families gain homeownership, the foundation of generational wealth. Habitat homes are not free. The application process takes 18 to 24 months. Prospective home buyers contribute hundreds of hours of their own labor, working alongside volunteers and staff during the construction of their home. They make a down payment on the home and are responsible for monthly mortgage payments, as well as insurance and property taxes. Volunteers, in-kind donations and partnerships, and our financing model, which is geared to a homeowner’s income, make Habitat homes affordable.

Home Repair Programs
|
Habitat Lakeside’s Home Repair Program offers home repairs at reasonable costs to qualified homeowners. These repairs and modifications can be as simple as adding grab bars to a bathroom; bigger projects include replacing broken stairs or adding an exterior ramp. Affordable loans are available to qualified homeowners for larger projects.
Aging in Place, a program for homeowners aged 62 and older, offers modifications that help people stay in their homes longer. Rock the Block, an annual home-repair event, targets a specific neighborhood for revitalization and repair, including yard maintenance and beautification projects. This annual event underscores our mission: Bringing people together to build community and hope. Click on the video to see highlights from Rock the Block 2025, held in Plymouth, Wis. |

ReStoreHabitat Lakeside ReStore offers building supplies, home goods, and furniture at affordable prices. Some items are brand new; others are gently used. ReStore accepts donations of gently used furniture and supplies such as sinks, boxes of tile and flooring, and doors, as well as donations of new items from businesses. Whether you’re rehabbing, downsizing, or decluttering your home, please think of ReStore. If you’ve got time on your hands, consider volunteering at this unique retail spot.

Get Involved
|
Private donations account for nearly 80 percent of Habitat Lakeside’s budget. Donations support our financial model and make programs like Rock the Block and Aging in Place possible. Please consider an annual or monthly donation, as well as a donation from your estate.

Our lifeblood is our volunteers — the hundreds of committed, dedicated people who build houses, work in the ReStore, help repair homes, and help our office team. We train volunteers and we promise you’ll have fun, meet new people, and have the satisfaction of seeing the fruits of your volunteer labor.
