Support affordable housing in Sheboygan County by volunteering at Habitat Lakeside. We train for volunteer positions on home builds, and in the ReStore. Our committees also have openings for volunteers.
Volunteer on a BuildWe have broken ground on our 53rd home and will soon have two more homes under construction. By 2027, we’ll be building five homes a year. Volunteers provide most the labor for our home builds, working alongside our construction team and homeowner families on tasks ranging from wall raising to painting. Experience not necessary! We train volunteers and provide all equipment needed. “Jump in,” says Craig, a longtime Habitat volunteer. “Jon (the construction manager) will teach you the fundamentals needed to have a fulfilling day and to build safely.”

Volunteer In the ReStoreOn any given Tuesday, our ReStore comes alive with the sights and sounds of volunteers sorting, repairing, cleaning, pricing, and displaying donated goods. Good music plays and a joyful camaraderie fills the air. “Volunteering has given me a fresh perspective on a store and mission I love,” says John, a new ReStore volunteer. “It’s been a good way to meet new people and get new ideas about ways to reuse various materials and furniture.” It’s also an effective way to support one of Habitat Lakeside’s most important assets.

Volunteer on a CommitteeMichelle, a Habitat Lakeside homeowner, serves on our Family Services Committee, one of many committees staffed with enthusiastic volunteers. Committee volunteers support Habitat Lakeside operations, with duties ranging from planning events to coordinating with area churches. “There is something about helping others, putting smiles on faces, and bonding with the community that can’t be beat,” Michelle says of her volunteer experience. “Try it once. Chances are you’ll never stop.”
